They will jointly explore how photographic works gain new dimensions of interpretation and narrative potential through text, and how the combination of image and text can enhance audience resonance and participation.
Yi-Ning LIN and Yang Chia-Shin will take the "Metal Odyssey," currently exhibited at Three Shadows Photography Art Center in Beijing (until 1st June) as an example, focusing on its curatorial strategies of "photography and text," "private to public," and "public participation." They will introduce how the exhibition transforms personal challenges and intimate experiences into public aesthetic experiences through multiple media such as archives, diaries, photographs, and videos; At the same time, they will discuss how to invite proactive participation and interaction from the audience, transforming traditional exhibitions into a collective creative experience, and the impact of this transformation on curatorial practice. Yumi Goto will share editorial strategies and cases on similar themes from the perspective of photobook creation.

Yang Chia-Shin (Curator and Artist of "Metal Odyssey”)
Yang Chia-Shin is the recipient of the 2024 Jimei x Arles Curatorial Award for Photography and Moving Image.
