How are we connected to nature? How are we similar and different to the living world around us? Let's explore this through art and craft!

In this workshop led by artist, designer and illustrator Jacky Tong, children will create their own unique artwork to express their relationship with the natural world. Using photography, cut & paste collage, and drawing techniques, kids will create art while learning about the connection between humans and animals.

Lecturer Lecturer

  • Jacky Tong

Jacky Tong, a Hong Kong-born Art Director and Illustrator based in Kyoto, specializes in visually bringing ideas to life. He studied Visual Communication at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and earned an MA in Illustration from Kingston University, London.

His work explores human-animal relationships, notably What We Deserve, exhibited at the 2011 London Design Festival, and 人間等活, an illustrated book published in 2015. His exhibitions include A Room in the Ark (2019, SHIBAURA HOUSE, Tokyo), envisioning peaceful coexistence, and The Animal in YOU (2023, E/C GALLERY, Tokyo), which examines human-animal interdependence through intricate lines and vibrant colors, inviting reflection on our bond with nature.
