A two-part event.
In the first session, Yu Yamauchi will share the concept and method he undertook in creating the series shown in the KYOTOGRAPHIE exhibition, which he developed over nine years in the ancient forests of Yakushima Island, Japan.
The second day will involve an excursion into the mountains of Kyoto for a shooting session with Yamauchi, where he will share his sense of nature through photography.

Lecturer

Yu Yamauchi

1977年兵庫県生まれ。自然の中に長期間滞在し、自然と人間の関係性から世界の根源的なありようを探求している。独学で写真をはじめ、スタジオアシスタントを経て制作活動を本格化。富士山七合目にある山小屋に600日間滞在し雲上の来光を撮り続け、山での暮らしから宇宙へ意識が広がる体験の中で制作した作品『夜明け』（赤々舎）を 2010年に発表。2014年には、『夜明け』の制作時に滞在していた山小屋の主人に焦点をあて、山での日々から人間が包含する内と外の対話を著した書籍『雲の上に住む人』（静山社）を刊行。2020年には、5年をかけてモンゴル全土を巡り各地で形成される時間や空間、相対的な現実や多元的な世界構造などを探求した作品『惑星』（青幻舎）を発表した。そして2023年、屋久島に9年通い、単身で森の中に1ヶ月近く過ごしながら自然と人間の距離感を探り続けた作品「自然 JINEN」を発表する。長野県を拠点に国内外で展覧会を開催し続けている。
