Koichi Nishiyama | Ambiguity

©Koichi Nishiyama

Urban and living spaces are built out of rationality. However, the windows, facades, and buildings between the interior and exterior are considered as buffer zones with gradations that are slightly out of order. This work started out from the idea of having more light and more nature in ambiguous areas, beyond human intention.
Gallery G-77 is located in a grid pattern in the city of Kyoto. This gallery is surrounded with a mixture of historical and modern textures. Modern textures are found anywhere in Japan. And some parts in this grid are empty lands.
In this exhibition, the structure of the city around the gallery and the ambiguous structure shown in the works, that are going to be exhibited, will be connected through installation in the gallery space.Further more, creating a unique format that can only be found here. It is also an attempt to reconsider the way of having an "exhibition" which is usually held in a limited place and time.
